The Ultimate (and Unhinged) LinkedIn User Archetypes – Part IV [Bonus]

11 Aug

Part IV – Archetype V. Oh, a post-script that I almost missed: The Event Evangelists
“Join us for an evening of recognition, inspiration, and absolutely no awkward small talk.”

Most began life as publications, rating agencies, or ranking bodies – some still maintain the semblance. Somewhere along the way, they morphed into large-scale award-giving machines, hosting glittering galas where the real winners are the photographers.

On LinkedIn, they’re less about journalism now and more about the circuit. Announcements for early-bird passes are followed by breathless “Only 3 tables left!” posts.

And once the event is over? Prepare for a week-long flood of group photos, handshake shots, and “Humbled to be recognised” captions from attendees.

Their feeds are seasonal: a pre-event drumroll, an event-day frenzy, and post-event photo spam until the next glittery cycle begins.

Signature moves:
“Mark your calendars!” – six months in advance
Countdown posts (“Only 10 days to go!”)
Tagging 47 people in a single photo collage

Self-test: Ever been to one of these events, spotted yourself in a LinkedIn photo the next day, and realised you were mid-bite? Welcome to the archives.
